STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God.
God
We believe there is one True God who reveals Himself in three persons:
God the Father is Creator of the universe and loves all people groups. He is Ruler of all things and is to be reverently obeyed. He is holy in all His ways and worthy of our love and praise.
Jesus, God's Son, came to earth. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, shed His blood to pay the penalty for our sins, died on a cross, rose from the dead, ascended to the Father, and now sits at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf. He will return one day for His Bride (the church) and judge the world.
The Holy Spirit draws people to God. He convicts men of sin, righteousness, and judgment to come. He is the great Comforter. He dwells within the heart of every believer and empowers us to live a godly life glorifying Him and bringing others to Him.
He equips us with spiritual gifts to serve in the body of Christ.
Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace through faith to all that call on the name of the Lord. It involves confessing to God that one is a sinner in need of a Saviour, asking forgiveness for ones sins, and personally receiving His Son Jesus into ones life.
ORDINANCES
Baptism
We believe in immersion in water symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Lord's Supper
We believe in partaking in the Lord's Supper to remember the death, resurrection, and return of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ.
The Church
We believe the church is a local body of believers of God in covenant with one another through faith in God and fellowship of His Word. We observe two holy ordinances and practice government by spiritual authority. We believe in corporate worship, for God says "Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together." We believe in the teaching of the Word, discipleship, exercising the spiritual gifts, and obeying the great commission to go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every person through evangelism and missions. WE also believe the church is to minister to orphans and widows in distress.
The Lord's Day
We observe The Lord's Day as a time set-aside for worship of Almighty God both publicly and privately.
The Family
The family is an institution ordained by God, which consists of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Marriage is a holy covenant uniting one man and one woman into a lifetime commitment. It is a gift from God symbolizing the relationship between Christ and His church. God ordained it to provide man and woman a framework for intimacy in companionship and sexual expression according to biblical standards. It was also designed for procreation of the human race through the gift of children.
A husband and wife are created equal in the image of their Maker. The husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the church. He is to provide, protect, and be a servant leader to his family. The wife is to respect her husband and graciously submit to his leadership as the church submits to Christ's headship. She is to be her husband's helper, and if they have children, she is to nurture them.
Parents are to train their children in the ways of the Lord through spiritual example, godly instruction, and biblical discipline. Children are to honor and obey their dad and mom.
